My wife and I are really handy people.
We also care about to save cash and don’t trust professionals. Too several times in our life a professional has messed things up. The baseboards around our home are always chilly chilly in the winter. This is because the professional was lazy and did not put in enough insulation. We have piping that leaks in the bathroom. The plumber installed it wrong and then covered up her mistake so we can’t access the pipe. We also had a woman drywall over plugs before. Rather than spend money professional and maintenance their mistakes, we make our own. I don’t mind fixing my own error. I save cash on the installation at least. My wife and I have gotten more and more daring too. Our most recent thing is that we installed our own heater. We bought hydronic heating for the home. We already had the boiler proposal in the basement. We just needed to add piping and put in within the floorboards. Then new flooring goes over top. We had tiles, grout and a brick cutter for the new floors. We just needed to buy and install the piping. Through online videos and consulting information online about heating installation, several of us did it. Was the heating installation care about a professional would do? No, but I know we got pretty close. We took our time and carefully placed the piping so every corner is getting heat. In a few years we might need to rip it up and repair it, however for now it is good.
