Dealing With a Horrible HVAC Client:

As a certified HVAC technician, I see a lot of crazy things on a daily basis.

My job requires me to visit homes in the area, to repair and replace any HVAC issues.

Some homeowners are a dream to work with. They schedule their biannual HVAC maintenances on time and have little to no problems. Most of the time, these homeowners are welcoming and give us no problems. On the other hand, I’ve visited some homes that have been an absolute nightmare. For example, I got a call about a home that said their air conditioner wasn’t working properly and their monthly utility bills were increasing rapidly. I showed up at the house a few minutes early, but nobody answered the door. I called the number they provided, and they said they would be at the house in a few minutes. I sat in their driveway for a full hour before someone finally showed up. The client got out of the car with fast food and a fresh coffee without apologizing. When she let me in the house, she let her massive dog loose and he was running around barking for ten minutes. Through the chaos, I asked to see her air filter. She had no idea where her air filter was kept, and left me to find it on my own while she ate in the kitchen. As an HVAC professional, I found the air filter and was dumbfounded to see the dirty air filter on the ground with no replacement in her AC system. When I asked the client about it, she erupted and started yelling at me for insuating she was dumb. As you can imagine, she still hasn’t paid me for my time.
