Because of local weather, a central cooling system isn’t a necessity, and i always managed the brief summer time season with portable air conditioners in the home offices and box fans in the rest of the house, but this wasn’t ideal.
I never liked the look of the portable air conditioners and distraught about the security risk of open windows. The fans tended to blow a lot of dust around, made lots of noise and couldn’t keep up on really hot afternoons. I still had no intention of upgrading to central air conditioning system until a local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C corporation gave a special on replacement. There was also an available rebate from a well-known manufacturer on a top-of-the-line system, then because I already had the air handler and ductwork in site for the forced air gas furnace, the investment into central cooling was not all that much. I hoped it would help with our flu symptom symptoms. The central cooling system has made a large improvement in the health, comfort and cleanliness of our home, but with the windows closed, there’s no influx of pollen, dust, bugs or exhaust fumes, however plus, the air conditioner actively filters the indoor air, trapping airborne particulate, and even when the outside temperature is mild, I run the air conditioner’s fan. The fan circulates the air throughout the house, making it believe fresh and continuing to provide filtration, however on really hot and humid afternoons and evenings, I simply lower the thermostat and every room is perfectly comfortable. My whole family sleeps better and has more energy during the day. Because the new cooling system achieves a 26 SEER, it uses minimal energy and hasn’t made a large impact on our electric bills.
