I am currently trying to pay off our student loans, while also covering our vehicle payment, insurance & rent. I’m finally working at an entry level position & not making a lot of money. While waiting for a promotion, I’m residing in a crappy little loft because of the cheap rent. The loft is not in the greatest location & all of the appliances are seriously aged. The oven smokes, the freezer isn’t freezing enough, & the faucets all drip. The windows leak air & yet are painted shut. There is undoubtedly little tepid water & the toilet runs continually. The air conditioner struggles to keep up with demand. A few weeks ago, I noticed that the air conditioner was barely putting out any cool air. I cleaned the air filter, however that made no improvement in performance. I then called our property owner, who promised to come look at the cooling unit. I waited 3 days & then called him back. The property owner again promised to check the air conditioner. I waited two more days, & decided to take a look at the air conditioner myself. Although I have no system how to repair an air conditioner, the problem was rather obvious. The outside machine was laying at a serious tilt. I’m guessing this caused all of the refrigerant to drain to a single side & impacted its ability to cool the apartment. I found a board that I was then able to wedge under the machine to level it. Once the air conditioner was laying level, it started performing much better. Not only does the air conditioner supply way more cool air, however our weekly energy bills are lower.
