It has been a very busy month. I have been working 6 days each week, trying to complete a large work project. My crew and I have been working in a building downtown. The brand new skyscraper is going to open on the first of next year. The skyscraper will be the fifth largest in our state. My crew and I have been busy installing access control systems on every floor and every door. The large insurance company has access to thousands of social security numbers. They have personal and medical information on hundreds of thousands of patients at any time. If the insurance company was hacked, a lot of folks could be the victim of identity theft. In order to prevent a security breach, my crew and I have been busily working on the access control system. Each floor has an access control panel. In order to enter, every person must swipe a badge and enter a personal identification number. The tenth floor requires an additional degree of authentication. All of the large company files are kept on the tenth floor. We installed a biometric retina scanner at the door entrance. Only a dozen employees have access to the tenth floor. We still have a few more components to install, before the building is secure. My crew has been working hard all month, despite two major hurricanes and a tropical storm. We are ahead of schedule right now, and I would love to keep it that way. We often run into software or programming problems, but everything has been smooth sailing on this job.
