I’ve put in my time plus paid enjoyable currency to live the way I do. I want for nothing. Not trying to brag here, just telling it like it is. The artistic career I have experienced has been fraught with sacrifice. So, I if I want to own a particular rare book, I most definitely will. Even though I’m married, I still get my way now. My new home in the neighborhood is a designers dream. I have a walk in closet which contains its own bag closet. I get the best but I also take care of it. I have multiple other women as assistants. And, it looks as though I may have to fire one of them. Having just returned from 6 weeks abroad, I came home only to be welcomed by an 87 degree slap in the face. The heating and A/C had been turned off! I was hoping against hope it had not been off long. My lovely assistants took their two week trips while my husband and I were in my travels. But, someone is always meant to check on my precious rare books. Once I brought up the lights, I knew it was exhausting news. The sight of mildew hit myself and my husband just as its pungent stink touched my nose. The heating and A/C system must stay on to maintain the proper humidity levels. This is a must. Now, I am seeing hints of mildew on far too much of our library. If the heating and A/C is not left on, I could easily well be looking at thousands upon thousand of dollars in damage to the rare book collection alone. My first call will be to my assistants asking them to join myself and my husband at our townhouse. The next call will be to a deep cleaning crew to save what they can. But, first perhaps I’ll turn on the air conditioning. I want to be sure the heating and A/C is on when the ladies get here.
