I just got a brand new apartment & am finally settled in with my husband & our 2 boys. The weather has turned quite frigid so it’s time to have the heating plan maintained & turned on. The problem is that there is more than 1 furnace! The apartment is 3 stories & is equipped with an up-to-date boiler with ancient radiators and newly installed ductless mini units in every single room! I don’t have much experience with gas furnaces because we moved from a truly temperate weather conditions where we basically never had to use the furnace. There’s one control component on the first floor that controls the boiler & I can’t truly figure out how to program it. We spend hours trying to figure out the individual radiators in each room to make it so that the upstairs floors aren’t much hotter or colder than the ground floor. So far, we haven’t had much luck. I don’t know how to do this efficiently. I suspect that the gas furnaces are going to be more extravagant to run than the boiler, so I don’t understand why the previous owners had them installed in so several rooms. When we purchased the house, the realtor would not stop raving about the comprehensive heating plan installed in the house. It sounded so good to us, until we realized how much cash we would be spending on our utility bills during the Wintertime weeks. I might have to call an HVAC corporation in to help me understand this up-to-date furnace. The last thing I need is an enormous heating bill that is more than our mortgage!
