My husband is cheap. There is just no easy way around stating the obvious. He hates to spend money. He will do everything in his power to not spend money. Recently, our HVAC unit crashed and burned. And, I am not talking about just not working a little bit. It literally exploded, smoke was everywhere and there was no cool air to be had for days. I was terrified. I knew my husband didn’t like to spend money. The HVAC unit was beyond repairable. A brand new heating and cooling unit was so outside our current financial budget that I was just waiting on the misery to follow. We live in a four season town. The weather can be extremely hot and it can get bitterly cold in the winter months. You have to have some sort of system. I came home from work this week and found my husband pulling out the old HVAC unit. I felt like a funeral was needed. But, then I noticed a huge box in the room. I asked him what it was and he told me a new HVAC unit! Seriously? He actually splurged on a new HVAC unit for the house? Well, it took me a few hours to realize that he didn’t really. It was a refurbished HVAC unit. This was a terrifying prospect to me. You have no idea where it has been or how it was cared for. And, yet, we were going to install it into our home. This could only end in disaster! Would it provide heat? Would it actually cool down the house? We were going to find out the hard way and fast!
